On Tuesday, September 19, 2017, the City of Indio hosted a workshop to engage with community members about the vision and direction of the General Plan Update. The workshop was held at the Senior Center and took place from 6pm to 8pm. The event was attended by at least 80 community members and interested stakeholders, and also several city staff and policy makers. All materials were available in both English and Spanish.
After an introduction by Elaine Holmes, City of Indio’s Mayor and Community Development Director, Les Johnson, the workshop commenced with a short presentation by Matt Burris, project consultant with Raimi + Associates. Matt introduced the General Plan, provided some background information about the work done to date, the purpose of the workshop, and an estimated timeline for the project. Matt followed with some basic project information and brief introduction to the workshop stations.
